What is the difference between the 1.8 kg and 2.3 kg options?
Both share the same dimensions and shell material. The 2.3 kg version has more duck down fill, providing extra insulation for stationary base camp use in the coldest conditions. The 1.8 kg version is lighter for carrying on the trail while still rated to -20°C comfort.
Can this sleeping bag really handle -35°C?
-35°C is the extreme survival rating, meaning you will survive but may not sleep comfortably at that temperature. The comfort rating of -20°C is where the bag provides comfortable, restful sleep for most users.
Can I zip two bags together?
Yes. The splicing design allows two bags of the same model to be zipped together, creating a double-width sleeping system for couples or shared body warmth in extremely cold conditions.
How should I store this sleeping bag when not in use?
Store loosely in a large breathable cotton or mesh bag — never in the compression sack for extended periods. Prolonged compression damages the duck down's ability to loft fully, reducing insulation performance over time.
What does the draft collar do?
The draft collar is an insulated tube around the neck opening that seals the gap between your body and the bag when zipped up. It prevents cold air from entering through the top of the bag, which is one of the main sources of heat loss.
Is duck down or goose down better?
Both provide excellent insulation. Goose down typically has a slightly higher fill power at the same weight, but duck down offers an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio at a more accessible price point. For the extreme temperature ratings of this bag, duck down performs exceptionally well.
What is the packed size of this sleeping bag?
When compressed in the included stuff sack, the bag packs down to a compact size suitable for backpacking. The 1.8 kg version compresses smaller than the 2.3 kg version due to less fill volume.
Is the 400T nylon shell waterproof?
The 400T nylon shell is wind-resistant and provides a degree of water resistance against light moisture and morning dew. However, it is not fully waterproof, so use a tent or bivy for protection in rainy conditions.
